DAILY ITINERARY Day 1: Arrive Las Vegas Arrive today in Las Vegas. Upon arrival, you will be transferred to your hotel. Your Tour Director will be available this afternoon to answer any questions. This evening get together for a Welcome Drink with your fellow travelers. Day 2: Las Vegas/Zion National Park/Bryce Canyon This morning, journey through St. George before reaching spectacular Zion National Park to see the massive rock formations. Next, on to Bryce Canyon National Park, where sandstone spires reflect colorful hues from every vista point. View the amphitheater of "hoodoos," colorful, odd-shaped stone monoliths. (FB,D) Day 3: Bryce Canyon/Park City Travel to Salt Lake City this morning, headquarters of the Mormon religion. Here a sightseeing tour includes Temple Square and the Joseph Smith Building. Site of the 2002 Winter Olympic Games, Salt Lake City is both a monument to Western history and a thriving modern city. Then on to the home of the Sundance Film Festival, Park City, set in the Wasatch Mountains. (FB) Day 4: Park City/Jackson Journey across the Oregon Trail this morning, traveling to Jackson, Wyoming. There is time to wander through this authentic old-western town before a specialty dinner at a local restaurant on the town square. (FB,D) Day 5: Jackson/Grand Tetons/Yellowstone National Park Travel through scenic Grand Teton National Park on the way to Yellowstone, an amazing geothermal wonderland. Keep an eye out for wandering elk and buffalo, and perhaps even spot a bear. (FB,D) NOTE: Weather conditions permitting, the South Entrance to Yellowstone National Park is open from mid-May to mid-October. When the South Entrance is closed, the tour will travel west from Jackson via Idaho and enter Yellowstone National Park through the West Entrance. Day 6: Yellowstone National Park Enjoy a full-day tour of Yellowstone National Park. Highlights include Yellowstone Lake, the thundering waterfalls of the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone River, and Old Faithful Geyser, which erupts almost every hour. (FB) Day 7: Yellowstone/Cody/Billings Head to Cody this morning, named after its most famous resident, Buffalo Bill Cody. Learn about his adventures and exploits at the Buffalo Bill Historical Center. Then on to the historic cattle town of Billings, Montana. (FB,D) Day 8: Billings/Deadwood/Rapid City Today's first stop is at Little Bighorn National Monument, site of "Custer's Last Stand." From here head into South Dakota and stop at Deadwood, where Wild Bill Hickok, Wyatt Earp and Doc Holliday once lived. Visit Tatanka – Story of the Bison, a state-of-the-art interpretive center demonstrating the relationship between the bison and the Lakota Indians. Then continue on to Rapid City for the next two nights. (FB,D) Day 9: Black Hills Excursion A full day of touring through the Black Hills. Stop at the Crazy Horse Memorial, a work in progress which honors all Native Americans. Next, learn the story behind Mount Rushmore before viewing this incredible sculpture depicting four great American presidents. Returning to Rapid City, your evening is free. (FB) Day 10: Rapid City/Denver Drive through the Black Hills National Forest where Ponderosa pines, spruce and aspen forests provide a home for a variety of wildlife. Continue on through the National Grassland prairies of South Dakota and Wyoming to the Mile-High City, Denver.(FB,D) Day 11: Denver/Arches/National Park/Moab Drive into the Rocky Mountains and stop at the famous resort of Vail. Then into Utah to explore the amazing wonderland of Arches National Park where natural stone arches and balancing rock formations create a spectacular landscape. Continue to Moab for the night. (FB) Day 12: Moab/Mesa Verde/Kayenta This morning, visit World Heritage listed Mesa Verde National Park. A tour highlighting some of the archeological finds shows how the ancient American Indians lived in the cliffs here. Then journey to Kayenta on the Navajo Indian Reservation for dinner and overnight. (FB,D) Day 13: Kayenta/Monument Valley/Grand Canyon First this morning, a Navajo Indian guide will lead a tour through the giant monoliths of Monument Valley. Then travel to magnificent Grand Canyon National Park, arriving with plenty of time to explore this natural wonder. You may want to stroll along the rim or maybe venture down the Bright Angel Trail. (FB) Day 14: Grand Canyon/Las Vegas Drive across the desert and return to Las Vegas today. Stops are made at Las Vegas McCarran Airport and the Las Vegas hotel.
