DAILY ITINERARY Day 1: Arrive Halifax Welcome to Halifax. Upon arrival you will be transferred to your hotel. Your Tour Director is available after 6 p.m. to answer questions. Day 2: Halifax/Peggy's Cove Excursion Explore Halifax this morning on a sightseeing tour. Afterward, you might want to board the historic Tall Ship Silva for an optional cruise. This afternoon, visit picturesque Peggy's Cove, one of the most scenic fishing villages in the Maritimes. Take time to enjoy views of the rocky shoreline dominated by its famous red and white lighthouse. (FB) Day 3: Halifax/Sherbrooke Village/Baddeck This morning travel north along Nova Scotia's eastern shore to historic Sherbrooke Village. Visit this living museum depicting a late 19th-century maritime village. Then cross the Canso Causeway to Cape Breton Island. Continue on to Baddeck to visit the Alexander Graham Bell National Historic Site, which houses a collection of artifacts and inventions of this pioneer of telecommunications. (FB,D) Day 4: Cabot Trail Excursion Follow the breathtaking Cabot Trail today, explored by Englishman John Cabot in the late 15th century. Enjoy vistas of land and seascapes, charming villages, and gently sloping mountains. Drive through Cape Breton Highlands National Park, home to deep-walled canyons, sandy beaches, majestic cliffs, and abundant wildlife. Later, return to Baddeck, where your evening is free. (FB) Day 5: Baddeck/Wood Island Ferry/CharlottetownJourney through Antigonish to the quaint fishing town of Pictou and board the ferry to Prince Edward Island. Travel past the scenic farmlands and rolling hills of the smallest of the Canadian provinces to its capital, lovely Charlottetown. (FB,D) Day 6: Prince Edward Island Begin the morning with a locally guided sightseeing tour of the Island. Drive up to the north shore to see Prince Edward Island National Park with its red sandstone cliffs and wind-swept beaches. Then visit the Anne of Green Gables Museum and enjoy a scenic carriage ride through the lovely grounds. (FB) Day 7: Charlottetown/Moncton Travel across the engineering marvel of Confederation Bridge to New Brunswick. Stop at Shediac Bay for a lobster cruise to see how these crustaceans are harvested and then enjoy a delicious lobster lunch. This afternoon, visit Le Pays de la Sagouine, an Acadian village created from author Antonine Maillet’s imagination. Finally, arrive in Moncton, where your evening is free. (FB,L) Day 8: Moncton/Depart Halifax Start the day with an orientation tour of Moncton including the unusual Magnetic Hill. Later this morning, bid your Tour Director farewell and embark on an independent VIA Rail journey back to Halifax. A transfer is provided to Halifax International Airport and to the Halifax hotel for passengers extending their stay. Please do not schedule any flights before 7 p.m. (FB)
