DAILY ITINERARY Day 1: Arrive in Boston Arrive today in the beautiful city of Boston. You will be transferred to your hotel, where the balance of the day is free. Day 2: Boston/Maine Coast/Bar Harbor This morning journey through Portsmouth, New Hampshire, and along the scenic shoreline of Maine. The quaint villages along the way portray the state’s rich past in whaling, shipbuilding and lobstering. Arrive at the seaside town of Bar Harbor. This evening, join your fellow travelers for a welcome drink and a New England Lobster Bake. (FB,D) Day 3: Acadia National Park Excursion Explore beautiful Mount Desert Island and Acadia National Park this morning. Its wooded roads offer views of quiet ponds and rocky beaches, highlighted by the blaze of autumn colors. A visit to the top of Cadillac Mountain provides sweeping views of the park, Bar Harbor and the islands of Frenchman's Bay. The remainder of the day is at leisure. Perhaps shop, take an optional nature cruise or simply relax in this quaint village. (FB) Day 4: Bar Harbor/Pinkham Notch/North Conway Leave the Maine Coast, traveling through the colorful woodlands of maple, birch and sumac. Entering New Hampshire, stop at Pinkham Notch for a gondola ride to the top of Wildcat Mountain for incredible views of the White Mountains. Spend the night in the town of North Conway, a popular year-round resort. After dinner, enjoy a presentation on the flora and fauna of the White Mountains. (FB,D) Day 5: North Conway/Woodstock More beautiful views today as you travel through New Hampshire into Vermont. Tiny villages and remote farmhouses are framed by the striking autumn colors on the way to picturesque Woodstock, a resort town nestled in the Green Mountains. Visit Billings Farm and Museum for an engaging look back into rural New England farm life. (FB) Day 6: Woodstock/Fort Ticonderoga/Lake Placid First visit famous Fort Ticonderoga, at the southern tip of Lake Champlain. Built in the 1750s, the fort played a strategic role in colonial history. Then travel into New York State and the breathtaking Adirondack Mountains, dotted with alpine lakes. Overnight in the lively village of Lake Placid and view the 1980 Winter Olympic Arena. (FB,D) Day 7: Lake Placid/Albany/Springfield Travel south today through spectacular scenery to the wooded shores of Lake George. Continue to the state capital, Albany, at the headwaters of the Hudson River and terminus of the Erie Canal. Visit the impressive Empire State Plaza before crossing into western Massachusetts and to the rolling countryside of the Berkshires. Learn about the area's most famous artist on a visit to the Norman Rockwell Museum. Then, on to Springfield. (FB) Day 8: SpringField/Lexington & Concord/Depart Boston This morning, drive into the heart of Revolutionary War country with a visit to the towns of Lexington and Concord. See the Minuteman Statue, Concord Bridge and Lexington Green. Then, return to Boston via the historic Back Bay and North End neighborhoods. A complimentary transfer is provided to Boston Logan Airport as well as a stop at the Boston hotel for passengers wishing to enjoy more time in this historic city.
